Finally we are starting to hear a lot more news about Mexico and it is not all about drug wars and violence. In fact Mexico has been talked about quite a bit in a positive way that it may lead one to believe that finally people are getting bored with the media coverage.

There is no violence in Los Cabos. There has never been a turf war in Los Cabos and only 2 bank robberies in 30 years and you know why? The escape route is too small, no place to hide. There is only one road in and one road out. The other reason is because the Government won’t allow it to happen here. Los Cabos is the cherry on the top for the government. Imagine the federal money pouring into this place.

So now that I have that cleared up I go back to what I was originally talking about; Mexico has been seen in a much more positive light recently. The AARP announced that Mexico is the #1 best place in the World to retire too. Do you know how HUGE that is? Here is the article if you have not read it: Best Places to Retire Abroad: Mexico. It list Puerto Vallarta as the #1 spot for all the same reasons why Los Cabos is so great.

Yesterday I read an article posted on EliteTraveler.com by Gonazalo Franyutti, President of the Hotel Los Cabos Association. In his article he mentions that “Cabo is the backyard of the North American consumer.” He goes on to further mention that Master-planned developments such as Cabo Cortes, Cabo Riviera and Puerto Los Cabos are shaping the area for the future. Franyutti says “all of these master-planned communities give us the sense that as we grow (Los Cabos), we will grow in a very planned and organized fashion.” Here is the article if you would like to read it: Elitetraveler: Interview with Gonzalo Franyutti

I think the most exciting news I read was today from Jim Cramer, the Bombastic, high-energy investment Guru and host of CNBC’s massively successful show “Mad Money.” This week on his widely popular show Jim Cramer states “It’s not such a bad idea to diversify away from stocks, I think that out of favor real estate in Mexico, that’s easily accessible to Americans, represents a great buy”. Wow! I then further read that he bought THREE properties in Mexico this week. Way to go Cramer!

So there you have it folks. Mexico is finally getting it’s well deserved spotlight shown on them for all the great reasons why I have decided to move my family here. It’s safe, is close to the United States, I still have modern comforts and conveniences, my kids are getting a great education in a bilingual school and owning here is easy, legit and inexpensive. Did you know that property tax here is next to nothing? property tax in Mexico is less than 1%! It is 0.1% on an annual basis of the amount recorded of the sale at the Notary. (for example about $1000 on a $1 Million property). What are you paying in property taxes where you are?

If you have been following my blog for awhile or receiving my Newsletters you know that I often mention how unique Cabo Riviera is. There is nothing else like it anywhere. Really and truly. Now we stepped it up a notch and added a boat tour along our existing channels to gain a different perspective to what is being constructed. Now that’s unique! I don’t know about you, but until recently, I have never been on a tour of a construction site by boat. It was fantastic. You think you know a place like the back of your hand until you see at a completely different angle. Come out and see for yourself.

As a consideration, if you plan on coming to see Cabo Riviera please be sure to make an appointment with me in order for me to have the boat ready for the tour. That would be awesome and so would your boat tour.

I will be the first to admit that I am no fisherwoman. That probably doesn’t come as any surprise to most of you either. I have fished a couple times and I do agree when you hook a fish and you are reeling it in, it’s exciting. I mean really exciting. But I am no fisherwoman.

Recently while sitting on the sidelines of the Bisbee’s EastCape Offshore Tournament I also found myself excited to see what was caught and how big it was gonna be. It amazed me further to find out how many fish were actually caught and released in this tournament alone. There were 108 Billfish Released: 2 black, 33 blue, 64 striped marlin, 9 sailfish, 9 dorado & 7 yellowfin tuna that had been weighed. So it is no surprise to me or anyone else for that matter, that Los Cabos is a fantastic place to fish even if you are not a fisherwoman. That is why Christine Delsol of SFGate.com wrote this article below.

I know these have been well anticipated and I do have to say that they are incredibly impressive in person as they line our sales office walls in La Ribera. These will be a little teaser to what you can expect when you visit.

Today if you came out to see Cabo Riviera you would need to use a bit of imagination. However, not nearly as much imagination as you would have needed two years ago when I started and when our sales have started. Those who have bought in the last two years, that would be over 90 of you, are frontiers and visionaries. You bought with only having a basic understanding of what Cabo Riviera will be without any real true detail as to what it may look like.

Cabo Riviera will feel as though you have stepped back in time to Old World Mexico with modern day conveniences. Imagine stone lined streets and walkways, fountains, bright colored flower landscaping, and incredible architecture that tells a story of a long time ago. These images below are the dreams and visions of our incredible developers and investors and they are taking every measure to see to it that Cabo Riviera will be nothing less of amazing.

Enjoy the images below but better yet, please come out and see what we are doing. It’s incredible.

Muy Bueno
July 31, 2010 — by Capt. Dave Lear

Baja California’s East Cape region is known for its beautiful uncrowded beaches, aqua blue water and warm, friendly people. It’s also an outstanding big game fishing destination as this week’s Bisbee East Cape Offshore Tournament clearly Boats moor in front of the Hotel Buena Vista.demonstrated. With three new records set, 117 billfish caught and more than $300,000 in prize money spread among the 56-boat fleet, the 11th annual edition was a resounding success.

“What a great week,” said Tournament Director Wayne Bisbee after the gala beachside awards ceremony at the Hotel Buena Vista Resort. “We had perfect weather and some quality fish come to the scales. I can’t think of a better way to kick off our second decade at East Cape.”

Thomas Lansing, of Phoenix, AZ, was the biggest winner overall. Fishing aboard Dream Weaver, Lansing boated a 581-pound black marlin on Wednesday and followed that up by scaling a dorado weighing 52.3 pounds on Friday. Lansing pocketed $93,646 for his Dream Weaver at the Awards Celebrationefforts. His marlin was also the largest known black on record in tournament history.

The father/son team of Vic and J.V. Lattimore also scored big in the marlin category. J.V. landed the week’s second largest marlin, a blue weighing 441 pounds, while Vic added a 377-pound blue. The 441 was another new East Cape Offshore tourney record. With their Day 3 daily jackpot, plus the second and third fish in the marlin division, Team Cowboy VII took home $74,393 in cash prizes.

Randy Hinton, fishing aboard Incognito, set the tournament dorado record when he brought his 55.8-pound bull to the scales. Hinton’s fish beat the previous mark by one pound, which coincidentally was set by Team Cowboy VII in 2008. Hinton won $9,408 for taking the dorado division.
Alan Martin took top honors in the tuna division by whipping a 151.8-pound yellowfin. Martin was fishing on Mi Sueno for his catch. He also pocketed $9,408 forZhao at the Awards Celebration.
the top division prize.

Don Whittier , who fished on one of the smaller boats in the fleet, Zhao, his 23 Parker center console, (www.caboadventuresportfishing.com)swept all three daily tuna jackpots. Whittier boated yellowfins weighing 128, 106.7 and 120.4 pounds, respectively, to earn $31,875 in prize money. Togo Hazard on the Dottie B II and Alonso Aspe Franco on Condor were the other daily winners in the dorado dailies. Hazard’s fish weighed 50.8 pounds while Franco’s tipped the scales at 45.8 pounds. Both anglers won $10,625 for their jackpot prizes.

In the Release Division, Team Don Valerio was first, followed by Sea Fevers and Cabo Magic. Release points were earned for successful catches of striped marlin, sailfish and spearfish. Blue and black marlin weighing less than the 300-pound minimum also earned release points.

“Muy bueno! Very good! That sums up the 11th annual East Cape Offshore Tournament,” Bisbee said afterward. “Next stop on our Baja Series is the Los Cabos Offshore Tournament in October. If we have anything close to the action and excitement this event generated, we’re in for another fun ride.”
